Johann Bester
Johann Bester is Project Manager for IPPs at Thebe Investment Corporation, which he joined in 2015. Within Thebe’s Energy and Resources Division he is mainly responsible for Thebe’s interests in the energy, water and mining sectors. Bester has more than 20 years of experience in project finance, large beneficiation and mining. Bester headed up Eskom’s coal procurement business unit from late 2010 to mid-2015. At Thebe he manages Thebe’s investments in the renewable energy and coal sector, as well as Thebe’s interest in the “just transition”. Johann initially qualified as an engineer and holds an MSc in Materials Science from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the University of the West of England.
