Executive Chairman of Phelan Green Energy ‘PGE’, a private family business. Its South
Africa subsidiary, Solar Capital, is a leading Solar PV developer with over 500 MW
installed and owns an extensive landbank bank of over 20,000 ha.
Originally from Ireland, Paschal initially worked in banking with Westpac in Sydney,
Australia, before being appointed as the European Foreign Trade Director, for Irish
Government Food Exports, based in Brussels.
In the early 1980’s, in Ireland, Paschal then joined the entrepreneurial business world and
found his passion, for building new and innovative businesses. He initially established a
food manufacturing export company which went on to become one of the most
innovative and successful Irish companies of that decade. After this, he went on to invest
in various successful businesses in Ireland, USA, UK, and Russia.
In 2002, Paschal relocated to Cape Town, South Africa to retire on his wine farm.
However, shortly after his arrival, he formed Phelan Holdings SA, where he realised that
there was an opportunity within the energy sector to provide solutions for South Africa.
He subsequently created Solar Capital, which launched the largest solar farm in the
Southern Hemisphere in 2016. Phelan Green Energy, founded in 2008 is an international
leader in the development of, low-cost, PV Solar worldwide with a footprint in many
countries and global offices in South Africa, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Dubai, India, Chile,
and Peru.
Over the years, he has invested in his second passion of property where his developments
included hotel and residential developments.
Paschal is passionate about Green Energy and our stewardship and responsibility for the
environment.
He is now focused on building a global footprint for the production of Green Hydrogen
and its derivatives.
