Melusi Tshabalala is the founder and CEO of Mesama Energy, founded in 2017. Melusi is a seasoned 17 year experienced professional and executive leader who is a qualified Electrical Engineer, having developed, constructed and maintained over 1.5 GW worth of projects from various technologies. Through his interest in the business side of engineering, he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and found himself in management positions and that’s when he decided to further his studies in line with his career progression. He then studied for a PG Dip in Management Practice and after completion, he went for his Executive MBA which were both undertaken through the Henley Business School. Melusi is also a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa and an active member on the South African Independent Power Producers Association (SAIPPA) and Black Energy Professionals Association (BEPA).  

Melusi was at Sakhumnotho Group Holdings as a Managing Director for their power business as the company was seeking to invest more in the renewable energy sector. Prior to this appointment, he was at Engie as the Head of Origination and Business Development for the African continent. Before joining ENGIE, Melusi worked at Actom High Voltage Equipment as a Commercial Manager from 2013 before which he was employed by Siemens as the Sales Manager for High Voltage Products for a year. Melusi also spent 5 years in various departments at ABB, growing in his career from Service Technician, Design Engineer, Sales Engineer, Proposals Engineer/Manager to finally Project Manager. Melusi is experienced in sales, contracts, projects and commercial management with a demonstrated history of working in the renewable energy, electrical and electronic manufacturing industry and is skilled in process control, power plants, smart grid, control systems design and SCADA.
